The Ones You Forgot at The Camel in Richmond


The Camel is a quaint little venue located in Richmond, Virginia with street parking; the food is amazing! If you’re out and about during the weekday and you need a little pick me up stop in for some music and amazing food. The Camel hosted three amazing bands and one solo act on Jan 8th; if you didn’t make it then you missed out! Each set was amazing and left the crowd wanting more.

The Ones You Forgot, a pop rock band from Brick, New Jersey, have a Paramore-esque sound if you will. Front woman Jenna Bruno is a force to be reckoned with; her range as well as pitch are hands down spot on. Jenna gained attention from guitarists Ferdinand Benauro and Matt Thompson from her Instagram. When the three of them had a chance to play together, they knew this was the perfect time to start a band; they added Justin Rodman on drums and Lance Nelson on bass to round out the lineup. If you’re into relatable lyrics with enthusiastic melodies, a steady rhythm, and powerful vocals, then The Ones You Forgot should be in your line up on Spotify!

The Ones You Forgot have opened for artists such as Emarosa, Boys Like Girls, Four Year Strong, Never Shout Never and Seaway as well as others. June of 2018 The Ones You Forgot released their EP Too Afraid To Say, if you’re feeling vulnerable, scared or lonely, this song will pull you up leaving you feeling a self worth~something of value. The Ones You Forgot “Here Forever” is one of the catchiest songs and while it’s the darkest, it's not quite Freddy Krueger dark. Is anyone really ready for the death of a loved one? This song encompasses that. The lyrics belted out by Bruno “I want you here forever / I know it’s not your choice / it’s killing me” shows that no one is ever really ready and we worry that maybe you didn’t have enough time with them. The bands song “Luna” is about the starting of a relationship. As Bruno belts out “I’m such a mess when I’m around you” confessing take a chance on us and make it work.

Moniker a rock, new wave, guitar pop band, from Richmond, Virginia opened the night. Jordan Scott showed the crowd that a complete band ensemble wasn’t necessary. Scott has that Foster The People-esque voice, Scott doesn’t have that big rise and fall in his pitch, he has a softer vocal about him. The song "Sea-shore," Scott shines in this song, he keeps a flat consistent pitch at the beginning then perks it up with the chorus “Maybe we’ll just drift away / with no more words to say / I will die someday / but way before that day we’ll drift away."

Need a new boy band to carry you through the summer? Look no further than Skyward Story based out of Baltimore, Maryland. The band has an undeniable captivating spirit, with a dynamic performance to boot. Skyward Story boasts a super catchy pop rock punk sound, which gained the attention of multi-platinum producer Matt Squire! Squire has produced breakout records for artists such as One Direction, Panic! At the Disco, Ariana Grande, Plain White T’s as well as Demi Lovato. Skyward Story was formally once known as 3PM, this band is infectious be sure to add them to your Spotify line up.

Vegan Llamas headlined out the night, a rock band out of Richmond, Virginia, rounding out the Virginia lineup. The band members met when they were all students at Liberty University’s School of Music! Nothing but pure talent stands on the stage. If you’re ready to get up off your seat and have fun, then you better get to know the Vegan Llamas quick! Their song "No Mind" will get you moving with it's super catchy beat. The Vegan Llamas did a remix of "You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" that carried a Marilyn Manson-esque arrangement. The Vegan Llamas song :Wake up Dreamer" Jacob breaks out the banjo and it makes the song.
