In support of their first LP in 20 years Scatter the Rats, L.A. grunge act L7 made their triumphant return to Chicago’s Metro on May 21st.
Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Donita Sparks, guitarist/vocalist Suzi Gardner, bassist/vocalist Jennifer Finch and drummer Demetra Plakas, L7 came out swinging at their Metro show and never let up during their two-hour, twenty-one song set.
“We’re L7 from Los Angeles, California and, I guess, kinda Chicago!” Sparks said, as she acknowledged her Chicago south suburban upbringing to the audience.
Formed in Los Angeles by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner in 1985, L7 released six albums and toured extensively until their indefinite hiatus in 2001. The band reunited in 2014 touring North America and Europe. With the warm reception of their reunion shows, L7 continued to tour in 2016, with the documentary film L7: Pretend We're Dead, being released that same year. The band released the single "Dispatch from Mar-a-Lago," in September of 2017, their first new song in eighteen years. This song was followed by the single "I Came Back to Bitch" in 2018. And now L7 is back with their first full-length release in 20 years, Scatter the Rats.
